The first group to win UK's The X Factor-Little Mix.

Little Mix became the first girl group to win X Factor U.K. since the show began in 2004. Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, were put together by groups mentor Tulisa after all auditioning as solo singers.

“We are just so, so grateful and thankful to everyone who voted and to everyone backstage. Oh my God, this is never going to sink in. We cannot thank the public enough.”-Jade Thirlwall said about Little Mix win on Sunday (11.12.11).

The girl group beat worthy The X Factor competitor Marcus Collins, who was a gracious runner-up, hailing the girl group as “amazing.” His mentor Gary Barlow also praised the 23 year-old for his hard work as he stated, “I’m so proud of him, he’s been a brilliant contestant, well done.”

Little Mix won Britain over with stunning performances both last night and tonight, including a mash-up of two Alicia Keys songs, Empire State Of Mind and If I Ain’t Got You, as a duet with their mentor Tulisa and the winner’s song, Cannonball.

The result was in line with Simon Cowell’s prediction. Speaking via Skype, The UK’s X Factor’s creator said:

“If I had to pick a group, I’ve given it away haven’t I? No question or doubt, Little Mix won the night.”

Little Mix were in their element as they sang the R&B classic, and revealed that they’d chosen it because it reminded them of a time when they felt they had properly united and “come together as a group.”
