Simon Cowell Talks About “X Factor”, Paula Abdul, and “Bambi” with Redbook magazine for the October issue, which will hit newsstands on September 13. Readers can understand about him talking about “X Factor” and Paula Abdul, but where in the hell does Bambi come in? Well you are going to have to read the rest of this post to get the answer to that.
Cowell wants viewers to know that there is a big difference between his show and other reality talent shows, “The contestants are all ages—from 12 to 80—and have fascinating backstories. One woman in her mid-40s had gotten out of a horribly abusive marriage. When she sang, she was amazing. We saw the 5,000 people in the audience all get on their feet. That’s more powerful than a 17-year-old who comes in and says, ‘I want to be a star.’ It’s like with Susan Boyle, where I got it completely wrong. I’d written her off before she started singing and got a sharp wake-up call in front of millions.”
I don’t know about you, but it just sounds like any other talent show. There really isn’t any difference but that they welcome older contestants. That is a good thing because there are some much more talent that is undiscovered in the slightly older generation.
Those may wonder why he decided to have Paula Abdul sit at the judging table once again. Cowell answers that question by saying, “I do really like people who disagree with me. Probably my best friends in the world are the people I argue with the most, because they don’t always say what you want to hear. From the minute I met Paula, I was fascinated by her. She’s a complex person, but this is going to sounds very American she’s got a great heart.”
Cowell says he is a sensitive man and has a good heart himself. He reveals that he gets very emotional while watching “Bambi” each and every time, “That scene where Bambi’s mum gets shot is sad! I swear to God, I’m a softie for that stuff. You don’t believe me do you? Believe me. I promise you, I wouldn’t say it unless it was true.”
