Catherine Zeta Jones & Michael Douglas Attends SBIFF 2011 Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film tonight. The guest of honor for the event was no other than Michael Douglas himself. What made the moment more memorable is that his father, Kirk Douglas, was presenting him with the award. Catherine was looking extremely gorgeous in her gold and purple dress. During the awards presentation when it was time for Michael to accept his award from his 94 year old father, the two hugged while the audience members applauded happily.

Kirk began to speak to the audience expressing how proud he was about the accomplishments his first born son has accomplished, “The first time I saw Michael Douglas act was in a play at UC Santa Barbara, so it is fitting that a career that started here should be honored here. To tell the truth, I wanted Michael to be a lawyer. I secretly hoped he would be bad so I could tell him to forget it. He wasn’t.”

He continued on, “But as proud as I am of his achievements on screen, I am even prouder of the humanitarian work he has done for the United Nations and other organizations. I am very happy to give this award to my favorite actor/producer who also happens to be my firstborn son.” Other actors who have won this award are Quentin Tarantino and Harrison Ford.

In other news, Michael Douglas jailed son, Cameron Douglas, was recently a witness to a drug deal trail to where he lived up to his plea deal which was to rat out on his suppliers. Which is always a good thing due to people wanting to keep those types of fifthly people off the streets. During his testimony, Cameron identified David Escalera as his supplier to which he was given cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine to sell. Cameron also pointed out Escalera’s brother Eduardo as another one who supplied the drugs to sell as part of the trios bi-coastal drug ring.
